Customer Reviews

Customer Review #1
"I am extremely happy with this grinder. It does a good
job grinding, and the grinding mechanism is easy to take off
and put in the dishwasher. It also comes in empire
red, which matches my other KitchenAid appliances.

Unlike my previous bean grinder (a braun), this machine
is large enough to grind enough coffee for a 12-cup machine in one go.

I agree with the previous reviewer -- I have only had
problems with the grinds leaking out when I overfill
the machine. It has a Maximum Fill line, and if you
put beans above this line it will leak."

"We bought this in the red which is such a vibrant colour. I consider this the Mercedes of coffee grinders, and we have owned a few other brands. In fact we bought a new De Longhi coffee machine and it came with one of their coffee grinders that didn't work after the fourth try. Seems the motor burned out. So as a birthday gift for my husband I ordered this coffee grinder, which was on back order (that was the only negative) but it finally arrived.

It is much quieter than the other grinders we have used, and I like the steel mechanism and that healthy size over cup that you press down on to trigger the grinder. The appliance looks so nice on the counter that I hated to stick it away.

I should note that I own most of the KitchenAid counter appliances, as well as the bottle opener, basting brush, spatulas etc. and buy this brand because it is excellent and I have yet to be disappointed.

And in the process of designing and building a new zen style home, we are making sure that the kitchen is designed so that the KitchenAid appliances we own are easy access since we cook and entertain a lot and feel proud to have this brand in our home."

Customer Review #3
"Last Christmas I was given the chance to use this coffee grinder and found that it was much better then grinders I have used in the past. The first attribute that I noticed is the measuring units on the inside of the coffee bean container. I measured out an exact amount of coffee and put the lid on to start grinding. It instantly grounded the beans into a fine ground. After this impression, I went out and bought one for myself. I've had it for a couple months now and it still works great.

Other features include a detachable ground container. This allows for easy transfer of grounds to the coffee pot and it is washable. The container can be thrown in the dishwasher. The bean container is also very deep, allowing up to 4 ounces of coffee to be ground.

I am a coffee lover, and I frequently grind my own coffee. This coffee grinder is just what I needed."

Customer Review #4
"What I like most about is:

- the safety feature: this grinder can only be turned on with the top in place.
- the bowl is detachable and dishwasher-safe so you can wash it.

I was hesitant about buying this grinder because of the conflicting opinions about it. However, since most of the reviews on it are very positive, I decided to go ahead and try it. I'm glad to say the complaints about this grinder are largely unfounded:

Messy
The most common complaint: The cover doesn't form a tight seal, the ground sticks to and accumulates on the cover, and when the cover is taken off, it leaves a mess on the countertop. This was my main concern when I was debating whether to get the grinder. However, I went by what some of the reviewers suggested: Don't fill past the "Max Fill" graduation mark in the grinder and this won't be a problem. I followed this piece of advice and found that, indeed, they were right on the money.

Uneven Grounds
The instructions actually say not to "pulse" it but to leave the contents to grind continuously. I'm able to get a very consistent ground coffee every time by doing so.

Coffee Ground Packed Down Under Blade
A small quantity of coffee grind gets packed under the blade after grinding. I had the same issue with the Toastmaster coffee grinder I had before this one but I had taken for granted it was an issue inherent in all grinders. The solution is simple enough - use a coffee brush that costs just a couple of dollars.

Looks Cheap
I have to tell you I actually find the Onyx Black KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder rather attractive and well-designed. It looks just like it's pictured on the product page. Maybe I just have poor taste...

Noisy
I would have to agree with the complaints that this unit is noisy. The KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder would have earned high marks if it weren't for this unfortunate flaw. I get an inexplicable grinding noise whenever I operate it and the documentation doesn't address this problem in its troubleshooting section, but I suspect it has to do with the fact that is this unit is... uh... a grinder!??

There you have it. I hope it helps you in deciding whether the KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder is right for you."

Customer Review #5
"I love this grinder. I have used 2-3 times a week now since 2004. Still works great and looks like new. The best part about this grinder is it comes apart for cleaning and washing when needed. I use it for fine grind too, my burr grinder couldn't hold up after a year and was a pain to clean. Love love this one."
